To promote
positive images of
the Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual &
Transgender
Community,
demonstrating
the sameness of
all people.
Our founder, a woman and a lesbian, was domestically partnered, then
ceremonially committed, then married and unmarried,
(Thank you San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom)
to her loving spouse,
who by the way also happens to be a woman.
She knew, no matter how normal her life, love and family felt to her and her
own, the normal of the world were more inclined to find it queer and less
willing to acknowledge the basic sameness of their existence.
These two loving hardworking parents, were raising four funny wonderful
children, in their lovely suburban recently renovated and refinanced home,
with their overweight Beagle and overzealous Fox Terrier.
With their two oldest children grown and living on their own, and the
younger teens in and approaching College, it was often normal to hear
laughter & love coming from the home during family reunion weekends.
How queer it must seem to normal folks to enter their home and find their
walls filled with photographs, of an extremely colorful nature; of smiling
faces, far away places and furry races; of the children's school graduations,
family vacations and their precious pooches. Now here comes the queer
part, these parents are both women.
Directly across the street from them lived a family with two loving
hardworking parents, who were raising four equally funny and wonderful
children, in their lovely suburban (yes it's true) recently renovated and
refinanced home (don't forget how low the interest rates were), and their
trim and slim cocker spaniel and cat named Gus.
With their two oldest children off to College, it was often normal to hear
laughter & love coming from the home during family reunion weekends.
How normal it must seem to normal folks to enter their home and find their
walls filled with photographs of an extremely colorful nature, of smiling
faces, far away places and furry races; of the children's school graduations,
family vacations and their precious pets. Now here comes the normal part,
the parents are a man and a woman.
And so as the story goes, the women embarked on a journey to open their
hearts, home and family to the world.
They were featured in Time Magazine,and Local Newspapers, and Curve
Magazine sharing the images and stories of their lives and family.
Images that in the final analysis, were not Queer at all. Matter of fact, they
were as Normal as the family across the street.
Queer Stuff is proud and honored to promote the images of the Queer
Community.
We are passionate about the sameness of all people.
